Aerogels based on the polyimide with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) and the others were prepared through the imide and different polyamine including aromatic triamine (TAB), octa (aminophenyl) silsesquioxane (OAPS) and poly (aminophenyl) silsesquioxanes (PAPSQ).The heat conductivity of the polyimide aerogels are at 0.0245 W/m·K under room temperature.The polyimide aerogels cross-linked by OAPS or PAPSQ are of high thermal stability under high temperature.They have glass transition temperatures from 251-263 ℃, and their initial decomposition occur in ranges from 500-550℃.The incorporations of OAPS or PAPSQ make the polyimide aerogels have the remarkable heat insulation, thermal stability and very low density.The aerogels based on the polyimide and POSS may have important applications in thermal insulation material for aerospace facilities.
