摘要

Herein, the smoking capability influence of acrylic resin to intumescent flame retardant coatings is discussed.Acrylic resin is the main polymer of intumescent coatings and affects its performance.Thermal decomposition kinetics is used here to simulate burning process.During combustion, acrylic resin generates most amount of the smoking.Through multiple peaks fitting of derivative thermo gravimetric (DTG) curves, the thermal decomposition of acrylic resin can be identified in the intumescent coatings.Combining with the smoke density curves, the dormant influence of acrylic resin becomes clear.Approximately, acrylic resin is decomposed 21.13% for whole, that's the 6.67% of intumescent coatings.It also can be deduced that acrylic resin contributes 34.64% in smoking amount during the burning process of intumescent flame retardant coatings.
