CHITOSAN-ZINC PARTICLES: A NOVEL MUCOSAL ADJUVANT

摘要

The objective of this study was to investigate the adjuvant effect of zinc particles alone and in combination with another adjuvant (Chitosan). These formulations were compared with the licensed adjuvant alum (aluminium hydroxide). Initial results show that the combination of zinc and Chitosan yields serum antibody titres as high as those seen with alum for total IgG and higher titres for IgG2a. This indicates that a zinc-Chitosan formulation may be a promising adjuvant for stimulating both a Th2 and Thl immune response.
