The knowledge of wave loads and wave overtopping over platforms isof paramount importance for the structural design. Wave breaking onstructures induces a turbulent multi-phase flow and hence itscharacterization represents a challenging task for both experimentalistsand numerical modelers. More recently, the Bubble Image Velocimetrytechnique has allowed measurements of the flow velocity field in thehighly aerated flow. This paper employs OpenFOAM® for thesimulation of offshore wave-structure interaction. The model isvalidated for offshore applications using laboratory data. Subsequently,flow predictions around the structure are employed in a structuraldynamic model to study the structure stability.
