Soil tillage changes the soil environment in the arable layer. It improves root system both in quantity. The spread of the roots is promoted, so that the shoots can be supplied with more water and mineral nutrients, which results in a luxuriant canopy with increased photosynthesis. Soil tillage also changes the temperature, the moisture and the composition of the air near the ground in favour of the plant growth. The increase of the accumulation of the dry matter in turn will help the development of the root system. This series of process has been called the crop effect in an arable layer with loosened-compact zones. The results got farm our experiments with show that crop photosynthesis and bio-productivity under different soil tillage technique my differ by about 7. 2%~11.4%.
