Integration of Simulation and Value Stream Mapping inTransformation to Lean Production

摘要

This paper will describe current research and development efforts to integrate process analysis tools to support arntransformation effort to implement lean production techniques in a high-technology motion control manufacturingrnplant. Simulation was used to model a manufacturing process for a core product family and validate a “current staternmap" as well as to evaluate alternative design scenarios for the manufacturing process in a "future state map."rnGeneral lean production concepts, the value stream mapping tool, analysis of the simulation results, and conclusionsrnabout the integration of process development and management tools within the lean transformation approach arerndescribed.
