CYTOGENIC STUDIES OF THE INTERGENERIC HYBRID: AGROPYRON REPENS (L.) BEAUV. × BROMUS INERMIS LEYSS CV. NANUS

A large number of agronomically important species (Secale, Triticum and Hordeum) belong to the family Gramineae, including several forage grasses species: Festuca, Lolium, Agrostis, Bromus and Agropyron. Smooth bromegrass (Bromus inermis Leyss) is an important forage species and has high yields of highly digestible forage. Smooth bromegrass is strongly rhyzomatous and widely adopted. Quack-grass (Agropyron repens L.) is a hexaploid perennial Eurasian species that has become established as one of our most valuable forage grasses.
