The modern level of engineering development demands rather rigid requirmeents as concerns functional properties of lubricating oils, and also requires special attention to economic and ecological aspects of their application. Fulfilment of these requirements as concerns functional properties of lubricating oils, and also requires special attention to economic and ecological aspects of their application. Fulfillment of these requirements could be attained through introduction in lubricating materials assorted dopes and also by using synthetic or semi-synthetic fluids instead of widely used petroleum oils. Unfortunately, it is not always achievable due to technical, economic or ecological reasons. In this project other way of improving a series of the exploitation characteristics of lubricating oils are offered. Use of mixtures of products of various structure and origin are considered as base oils. With reference to "steel - bronze" friction unit antifriction, antiwear and viscosity-temperature proeprties of such composition ability to planish friction surfaces, thus promoting their antifriction properties, and other, having long hydrocarbon and hydroxylalkene radicals, provide a high level of antiwear properties. The sepecified composition provides synergism of lubricating action and perfect viscosity-temperature properties. Oils based on several plant components, petroleum and plant components, petroleum and synthetic components, and also petroleum, synthetic and plant components have high lubricating and rheological properties. These oils have relatively increased biodegradable value in comparison with petroleum lubes and thus less harmful to the environment. Lastly, introductions of synthetic components to petroleum oils also enhance the operational properties. Lube oils based on these mixtures do not deter with any further improvement of operational properties by dopes. A series of oils based on the above mentioned lubricating fluids are successfully being exploited in practice.
