The Effects of Changes in Safety Behavior as initiated through aBehavior-based Safety Program on Organizational Productivity andQuality

A quasi-research project was designed to determine the effect of changes in safe behavior, initiated through arnBehavior-based Safety (BBS) Program, on organizational productivity and quality. The methodology involved arnmultiple-baseline study across two groups incorporating several months of baseline and post-interventionrnmeasurement. Behavior was measured using work-sampling techniques. The intervention consisted of training andrngraphical feedback. The subjects included employees at a manufacturing and assembly facility. Preliminary resultsrnindicate that a BBS Program has a significant effect on safe behavior but little influence on other organizationalrnvariables such as productivity and quality.
