Pacing in some form is generally incorporated into a manufacturing setup. Given the importance of visual inspectionrnin ensuring quality, it is essential to study how the pacing rigidity affects this task. Previous research has evaluatedrnthe effect of pacing on a pure search task. This study builds on past research evaluating the effect of pacing rigidityrnunder different task complexity levels on an inspection task involving both search and decision-making. The level ofrnrigidity was defined by fixing the inspection time per item or per lot of items. Overall, per-item pacing was found tornbe better than per-lot pacing for the speed and accuracy measures.
