Freshman project launches the cultivation of future engineering talent

With the rapid globalization of the world and the rapid changes in science and technology, Taiwan's industrial structure is in urgent need of transformation. Industry 4.0 is an opportunity for industrial upgrading. In order to cultivate the future engineering talent needed for Industry 4.0. Feng Chia University has carried out a series of curriculum reforms. The Freshman Project is one of these important beginnings. The Freshman Project has adopted the CDIO (conceive, design, implement and operate) framework. First-year students can think about the appearance of future plants and production processes so they can set up professional learning goals and motivation early. According to the results of the questionnaire analysis, it can be seen that the Freshman Project's learning experience allows the first-year students to learn how to learn and stimulate their motivation before entering a formal class, and guides students in the planning of their future courses for self-enrichment.
