US digital library research-broadening our reach

US digital library funding is trying to maintain a balance betweenntechnology-focussed research and content-based research. New DLI-2nprojects include voice, music, data, software, image, and video content,nas well as reaching out to users including children, educators, andninternational groups, and continuing and expanding efforts on technologynfor interoperability security/privacy, permanence, and linguistics. Wennow seek a basis for long-term maintenance and sharing of scientific andnscholarly data to transform research, replacing slow experimentationnwith data mining
