Kurniawan et al(2012), was initiated to divide the Indonesian waterways into 18 areas along 90°E – 150°E andrn15°S – 15°N in order to obtain the wave characteristic differentiation. These areas are simplified by grid size 10 x 10rndegrees. It is found that some area in which crossing inter-islands give unrealistic wave spectrum and scatter. Thisrnmeans that the defined areas need to be divided into more reasonable area in order to minimize the error and largerndeviation. The other result may obtain, that is the special characteristic around the smaller area. The wave scatter data isrngenerated from 25 years Europen Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF)’s hindcast data of Indonesianrnwaterways. The 2 degree grid accuracy in lattice was introduced in order to re-mapping of Indonesian waterways region.rnThese hind-cast data is examined by comparing with the Indonesia Metrology Agency (BMKG)’s hindcast data. Thernresults found that the BMKG data shown the higher sea surface fluctuation than the ECMWF data.
