This paper focuses on the contract strategy and project execution and the final result of the Snorre B project, located in the Tampen area of the Norwegian continental shelf. The project comprise a semisubmersible production platform with full drilling facilities, subsea development for 26 wells, gas export/Import facilities and oil export to Statfjord B for storage and offloading. The principle behind the contract strategy was that the contractors should tender a product developed inhouse instead of being forced to bid on a product developed by the oil company through a study phase. The contracts were signed in April 1998 and production start was June 27, 2001 which was 2 months ahead of schedule.
