The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Water Resource Site Analysis Software (SITES) is an event-oriented model for hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of water control structures (sites). The spillway analysis module has been extracted from SITES to make it easier to use with other reach routing software; e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TR-20, etc. In addition, this module has been extended, in SSEA+LHS, to support the input of key erosion rate and threshold parameters. These parameters can be entered using exact values or defined using a probability distribution function. In this paper, we analyze a large collection of experimental data sets to better understand the relationships between these key erosion parameters, the observed erosion, and the Headcut Erodibility Index (K_h). The data analyzed includes the USDA data used in developing the original erosion rate parameters for SITES, and the US Army Corps of Engineers' (USACE) data which was collected after the original parameters were developed.
