Because of electricity market liberalization,rnnew maintenance strategies are used and developedrnnowadays in order to reduce maintenance costs andrnfailure rates. Condition based maintenance is takingrnover preventive maintenance and already followed byrnReliability Centred Maintenance strategies. Noninvasiverntechniques without opening or dismantlingrnmajor parts of SF6 circuit breaker have been studiedrnthroughout this work. A 123kV circuit breaker wasrnserved and various parameters were measured andrnevaluated during 6,000 switching operations underrndifferent operating conditions as a reference base line.rnThe operating conditions have been varied in order tornsimulate the real conditions that could probably occurrnin service, such as variation of control and motorrnsupply voltage, SF6 pressure and oil pressure. Thesernparameters were also compared with 2 other circuitrnbreakers of the same type; one of them is in service inrna high voltage substation.
