Construction of the hydropower plant chain on the Sava River, Slovenia, is planned. The chain of sixteen HPP’s consists of three parts, where the Sava lower stream of 6 HPP’s is certainly the most interesting from the economic and energetic points of view. The structure of the terrain enables the plant chain to be built without greater environmental interventions and impacts on other infrastructures. Due to the rich water potential of the various side watercourses (the Savinja, the Krka), the hydrological conditions in this part of the river are most favourable. The hydropower plant chain will enable the hydropower plant working on the principle of decanting accumulation, thus exploiting the optimum of the water potential. This regime offers a possibility of production adapted to the highly demanded daily use of electricity and its oscillation
