摘要

This paper presents a novel approach to optimize the design of stormwater management systems in three dimensions. A sophisticated mathematical model coupled with the powerful hydrologic and hydraulics modeling tool PCSWMM is used for this research. The Genetic Algorithms are employed in this model to enable designers to search a global optimal design solution for a new stormwater management system based on life cycle cost. The model also ensures that the global optimization meets a set of design constraints including design guidelines and objectives. A generic Database Connection module and an XML engine are developed to enable GIS integration. Using these tools, GIS information associated with the studied watershed can be dynamically loaded into the design model. Since the XML engine is generic, it is capable of parsing any information which follows the XML specification, including GML(Geography Markup Language) data, resulting in rich data exchange capacity and model flexibility
