The historical center of Sant’Agata de’ Goti (Campania region, Italy) is located on arnsteep and narrow cliff of pyroclastic soils and rocks, overlying a thick Miocene flysch formation, whichrnmakes it particularly sensitive to both landslide and seismic hazards. The paper describes the subsoil characterizationrnand two urban design proposals submitted to the town municipality by a multi-disciplinaryrnresearch team. The first proposal deals with the environmental requalification of a cliff side, by assessingrnthe stability of the overlooking cavities and by reshaping and consolidating the rock slope through reinforcedrnearth and nailing. The second one includes a site-specific evaluation of seismic response, addressedrnto verify the seismic safety of the foundations of a masonry historical building.
