Construction of the Line C San Giovanni station in Rome

The construction of Rome’s Line C San Giovanni station required adopting buildingrntechniques suitable for responding to the numerous problems concerning geology, archaeology, publicrnutilities and surrounding buildings. The procedures for building this station were strongly constrained byrnwhat emerged unexpectedly at the start of the work sites: the presence of archaeological findings down torna depth of 18 m below ground level.rnThese findings required an overall revision of the Line C’s design in the historic centre of the city ofrnRome, starting from the San Giovanni station, to safeguard archaeologically sensitive strata.
