Gearboxes have become smaller, lighter and cheaper for the same power. As a result more sophisticated lubricants and better lubrication practices are needed to cope with the higher temperatures and operational demands. New lubricants, services and techniques are now available. These can be applied to older gearboxes, improving their life and reliability.
