Using Simulation to reduce the time consumption for development and commissioning of hydraulic presses and thus to improve competitiveness on the global market is widely recognized by press manufacturers and users. This paper deals with the simulation and optimization of hydraulic control systems. Firstly, modeling and parameterization of hydraulic components for hydraulic systems in presses are analyzed so that the hydraulic model libraries in a commercial software can be adapted for the simulation of presses. The identification of hydraulic variable pumps based on a transformation function description was investigated and performed to model the pumps. Based on the adapted hydraulic component libraries a hydraulic deep drawing press is modeled and the model is validated by experiments. Finally, the automatic parameterization of the hydraulic control systems of the press is investigated.
