CONCEPT CAR DESIGNS FOR THE FUTURE

It takes the harmonious role of the engineer and the designer to produce theconcept vehicles of the future, which are often debuted at international auto shows. Althoughthe automobile companies use their advanced design studios or a specific design house(carrozzeria) to design, model, and fabricate a new concept vehicle for an auto show, theinitial design theme may have taken place at yet an earlier stage. With the many professionaldesign schools and colleges preparing students for the automotive design world, many autocompanies set up sponsored student projects with these schools. The companies sendmembers of their design and engineering staff to observe and assist the students during theproject. Inasmuch as the instructors and teachers at the institutions are often from theautomotive design profession also, this opportunity gives the aspiring automotive designstudent an inroad to the design world. With this in mind, the graduating student often carriesalong conceptual ideas he or she once acquired during their scholastic days. And with thedesign freedom allowed a student with somewhat lesser restrictions, it understandably figuresthat many of the totally new design themes or concepts can and often do emanate at theacademic level.
