Urban Public Transportation in Pusan and its Operations and Use by People

Pusan offers a wide variety of modes of public transport with varying degrees of services and fare levels. The main ones are buses and metro, which together carry 45% of total daily passenger trips. In addition, there are taxis that carry about one million person trips daily. This paper describes the public transport system in Pusan, discussing the system characteristics, operations, and usage by people. Focus is given on three main modes of transit: bus, metro and taxi. The current situation will be first discussed, followed by a description of each mode. It will also discuss current problems of transit system in Pusan and future plans to deal with the existing problems.
