Effective re-use of scientific collections for the management of the hydraulic environment

摘要

This paper presents the current status of recent European research in the development of digital libraries (DL) for scientific collections. Considering examples from hydraulics and coastal engineering, this paper highlights the different treatments required for scientific and traditional DL objects and the implication this has on metadata and ontology development in this area.
