U.S. Department of Energy—National Spent Nuclear Fuel Program

The National Spent Nuclear Fuel Program (NSNFP) is the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program thatrnprovides the technology, analysis, and guidance to ensure the safe, efficient handling, characterization, and disposal ofrnDOE-owned spent nuclear fuel (SNF). This paper describes the development of the NSNFP, its programmatic objectives, andrnroles and relationships with the DOE SNF sites, the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management (OCRWM or RW) andrnother stakeholders. It also describes several current activities.
