Inductive Fast-Charging EV Fleets

Managers, maintenance staff or operators, considering electric vehicles for their fleet, may find the results of a project at Southern California Edison (SCE) illuminating. A team with members from Southern California Edison, Edison EV and General Motors successfully completed demonstration trials of an Inductive Fast-Charging System. The charging system uses the safe, durable, inductive power-transfer technology developed by General Motors for the EV. Capable of delivering up to 50 kW at DC, the system fast-charged a fleet of Chevrolet S-10 Electric pickups daily. The results show the effectiveness and flexibility that inductive fast-charging can add to electric vehicle operations.
