For fluorescence detection, we have investigated the CMOS BDJ detector, which can be used as a photodetector and a wavelength-sensitive device. An associated electronics is proposed for weak signal recovery. The detectivity of the detector depends on its operating modes. When using it as photodetector and considering the output current (I_1 + I_2) as its response, the evaluated detectivity is 2.4 x 10~(12) cmHz~(1/2)W~(-1). For wavelength-sensitive detection, the corresponding detectivity is 1.9 x 10~(12) cmHz~(1/2)W~(-1). At a reasonable measurement rate, an optical signal of less than ten femto-watts (10~(-14) W) is still detectable.
