Objective Involvement And Professionalism ～ Researching Management In The Real World

摘要

It has been argued by practitioners and academics that too much of scholarly management theory bears too little resemblance to the perceived reality of managerial experience. This critique reflects the positivist view of research that has dominated the natural sciences for centuries and which has generated a set of default assumptions about the criteria of good doctoral research in any field. In this paper, we reflect on these issues in the light of a doctoral research project in the University of Salford's School of Management, and suggest some implications for the training of doctoral researchers in the field of business and management.
