Removal of surface layers with high power diode lasers

The cleaning of surfaces is essential in connection with joining (as welding, soldering, gluing). In a wider sense, this involves only simple cleaning but degreasing and selective romoval of surface layers. Laser cleaning techniques find novel fields of application in art-work conservation and restoration. Often the removal has to be done on complex shaped surfaces, which requires high flexibility of the equipment. There are special cleaning problems where stationary equipment is not suitable.
