摘要

From dynamic crack propagation experiments performed on a Hopkinson setup we present results of their numericalsimulations using the eXtended Finite Element Method.The numerical simulations take into account the combination of mode Iand mode II at the crack-tip and predict the path of the crack according to a maximum hoop stress criterion calculated at eachtime step.The simulations reproduce quite well the experimental observations: the path of the crack, the celerity of crack, thearrest and restart occurring during the dynamic propagation.
