In this work the result of a study on the potential use of Miscanthus biomasses as a source for syngasproduction by gasification is presented. The study was performed in a pilot gasification plant based on the fluidizedbed technology and with a capacity of 50 kg/h, and installed at Portalegre’s Industrial Park, in Portugal. Thegasification tests were performed continuously for 5 days, with different proportions of Miscanthus pellets mixedwith wood pellets in order to optimize the calorific power of the syngas produced. Composition of effluent gases wasdetermined by chromatographic techniques. Results show that Miscanthus biomasses have high potentialities for useas syngas row material. Syngas with carbon monoxide and methane contents of at least 16% and 3%, respectively,were obtained.
