Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes and Large Eddy simulations are performed in conjunction with wind tunnel experiments on a simplified fifth scale mock-up of a Citroeen C5. Aerodynamic force and torque components, wall pressure coefficient and mean velocity profiles are compared. It is shown that a better agreement is found with Large Eddy in particular in the leeward region and in the wake where the flow separates and features highly unsteady three-dimensional vortices. The turnaround time of the LES simulations on current Linux clusters are shown to be within a time that can be considered reasonable for production use, which is less than a week.
