Active prots: a eprformance-oriented operating systme support to fast LAN communcations

The Genoa Active Message MAchine (GAMMA) is an efficient communcation lyer for 100base-T clusters of Personal COmputers running Linux.It is basd on Active Ports,a communcation mechanism derived from Active Messages.GAMMA Active Prots delliver excellent communcaiton performance at user level (latency 12.7 #um#s,maximum throughput 12.2 MByte/s,half-powr point reached with 192 byte long messages),thus enabling ocst-effective cluster computing on 100base-T.Despite being implemneted at kernel lev3el in the Linux OS,the performance numbers of GAMMA Active Ports are much better than many other LAN -oriented ocmmuncaiton layers,including so called "user-levle" ones (e.g.U-Net).
