摘要

The paper presents findings from a detailed study of 67 slips, trips and falls (STF) in two of New Zealand's high-STF-risk industry sectors: dairy farming and small business residential construction. Key risk factors and their interactions are briefly discussed. The paper also provides commentary on the advantages and drawbacks in the use of this investigation methodology in STF research, concluding that the potential resource, practical and logistical problems associated with conducting detailed STF investigations are outweighed by the opportunity to collect rich data on key risk factors and their interactions. The ability to collect information on latent failure risk factors is a major advantage of this method when compared to the limited detail of data usually available for analysis in injury epidemiological studies.
