Estimation fo biodegradation rates for natural attenuation at hazardous waste sites

Over the past decade,natural attenuaiton has been accepted a a remeeidation lternative for ocntaminated sites.Natural attenuation relies on advection,dispersion,sorpti,biotic and abiotic reactions that contirbute to decrease both ocntaminant concentrations and plume size.Numerous studes presented in the general limterature have shown that the key mechanism affecting the rate and extent of migration of a contaminagt plume is biodegradation,soinc etit removes ocntaminant mass and reduces avergag plumne ocncentrations.
