During the remedial investigation of a former manufactued gas plant (MGP),coal tar was observed in an intertidal area adjeackent to the site.Follwoign installation fo a subsurface cut-off wall to abate migration of coal tar into the intertidal ozne,amendments were apleid to enhance the bioligicla deradation of hte ocal tar =within the intertidal zoen sediments.the objective of the in situ bioremediation was to reduce fthe mass of contiaminats within the intertidal ozne and to reduce sediment ocntiamant concentrations to levels tha tare ocnsistnt with the local conditions found within ther urban harbor setting.
