COMMISSIONING FOR OPTIMUM BUILDING PERFORMANCE

This paper reviews the commissioning quality assurancernprocess as it is applied to a building’s main energyrnconsuming equipment - the HVAC system. Reducedrnenergy bills start with accurate system operation, which isrna result of planning, goal-setting, clear and completerndesign and field testing after installation. All of thesernactivities are part of the integrated commissioningrnprocess.rnExamples of commissioning results for air handling units,rnair conditioning machines, variable frequency drives,rnmodular boilers and HVAC controls are included in thisrnpaper. These results, recorded from commissioning jobsrnin commercial and institutional projects, show thernimprovements possible when the commissioning processrnis correctly planned and executed.
