The project consists in the development of an ultrasonic technique for assessing the integrity of the circulferential electron beam weld between the lids and walls of copper lined canisters designed by SKB (Swedish Nuchlear Fuels and Waste Managment) for encapasulation of nuclear waster fuel. Due to the rqadiation emitted by the nuclear waste encapsulated in the caisters the inspection must be entirely automated.
