Measuring Managing Culturally Inspired Risk

The search for improved service integrity, whether it is safety within hazardous industries or businesses seeking service probity, has thrown the spotlight on organisational culture. In some industries poor safety culture has been the root cause of publicly visible accidents, while poor operational culture has been the root cause of losses in the financial sector. This paper describes work undertaken on the EPSRC funded SCORE project to investigate how cultural issues can be incorporated into an organisations "risk account" through the use of Bayesian Networks.
