This paper presents a method to simulate three-phase induction motor performance during faults. The three-phase induction motor voltage and current relations are represented by an equivalent two-phase machine using D-Q transformation. This results in a set of five first-order nonlinear differential equations in terms of motor resistances, inductances, voltages, currents, speed and load. A C-program is developed to solve these equations. The program uses Runga-Kutta numerical approximation method. The method is applied to a 2.2 kW motor model. Simulated voltages and currents obtained during different faults are reported in the paper.
