Recently, to meet consumer demands, the electric appliance industry has moved towards product miniaturization and cost reduction. From a technical aspect, enameled wire must be wound and packed very tightly, resulting in the winding speed becoming higher. Under this situation, the enameled wire is subjected to severe mechanical stress and the enamel film is susceptible to damage and loss of insulating effectiveness. One countermeasure to this problem is the use of self-lubricating enameled wire with strong lubrication and abrasion resistance properties. The authors investigated the relationship between baking of lubricants, their distribution in the enamel film and lubricating properties, and the relationship between baking conditions, the distribution of lubricant in the enamel film and the lubricating properties. From the results of the above research, they were able to develop self-lubricating polyamideimide wire enamel with excellent self-lubrication and abrasion resistance properties.
