A stiffened composite rectangular panel with a central hole is analyzed using a finite element model on a parallel multicomputer. The panel has two longitudinal stiffeners in addition to an inner stiffener discontinuous at the hole. The influence of the stiffeners on stress concentrations is evaluated. A parallel Choleski method with up to 16 processors is used for the global equations, on a Flex/32 multicomputer at NASA Langley Research Center. It is found that the computational time for Choleski method decreases with a decrease in bandwidth, and better speedups result as the bandwidth increases.
