MAPPING GLACIER SURFACE ELEVATION AND ITS CHANGES OF PURUOGANGRI ICE FIELD WITH SAR INTERFEROMETRY

Accurate DEMs are required for measuring glacierrnvolume and mass change. The recently launchedrnTanDEM-X (TDX) and TerraSAR-X (TSX) satelliternsystem, which is the first bistatic spaceborne SARrnmission, has the potential to acquire the accurate DEMsrnof most glaciers and ice caps. Here, we report on thernapplication of TSX/TDX data sets for the measurementrnof mountain glacier DEMs over Tibetan Plateau. ArnDEM is generated with two pairs of TSX/TDX SARrnimages obtained in January 2012 over Puruogangri icernfield (PIF). Moreover, we also estimate the elevationrnchanges of the PIF by subtracting the SRTM-X DEMrnfrom the TSX/TDX DEM. Mean annual thinning rate ofrn-0.0225±0.015 m yr~(-1) is observed between 2000 andrn2012.
