PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for measuring the speed of an object using synthetic aperture radar images are provided to determine two dimensional speed of the object by observing the speeds of the surface observing direction and the aviating direction of the object. ;CONSTITUTION: A first interference diagram forming part(110) forms an along track SAR interferometry(ATI) interference diagram based on synthetic aperture radar images. A second interference diagram forming part(120) forms a multiple aperture SAR interferometry(MAI) interference diagram based on the synthetic aperture radar images. A first speed measuring part(130) measures the speed of the surface observing direction with respect to an object based on the ATI interference diagram. A second speed measuring part(140) measures the speed of the aviating direction with respect to the object based on the MAI interference diagram. A speed determining part(150) combines the speed of the surface observing direction and the aviating direction to determine the two dimensional speed of the object.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
