A general sustainability of pleasure craft, low fuel consumption and reduced environmental impact are consideredrnimportant features. Actually such characteristics are generally connected to poor speed, impractical for short timerncruising neither attractive for long range passages. The design and optimization of new hull forms suitable for mediumlargernsize motor yachts with low drag and cruising speed adequate to market requests seem very interesting. Anrnexperimental research program focused on semi-displacement craft has been considered by MArine HYdrodinamicsrnResearch Group of the University of Naples Federico II. This paper reports the experimental results of towing testsrnrelative to a new hard chine hullform up to Froude Number (Fr) 0.6. Resistance data in still water for threerndisplacements considering interceptor effect and heave and pitch RAO in regular sea are provided. Hydrodynamicrnperformances are compared with NPL’s 100C MODEL showing favourable behaviour.
