Decomposition of ~(14)C labeled organic substances and induced priming effect

Maximal decomposition rates (measured as ~(14)CO_2 efflux) of glucose and Lolivm shoots in the soil was observed 2-3 days after addition. Addition of glucose and Lolium shoots to the soil induced positive (for glucose) or negative (for Lolium shoots) priming effect by means of mi- crobial biomass activation (for glucose) or immobilization (for Lolium shoots).
