ECONOMICAL ASPECTS ON HELIUM RECOVERY DUE TO INCREASEDDEMAND OF HELIUM GAS AND SHORTAGE OF SUPPLY

Helium recovery and liquefaction at universities and institutes has become more and morernattractive due to shortages of helium gas within the last two years. The general lack ofrnproduction capacity also led to considerable price increases at the producer level. Helium isrnjust a by-product of natural gas production, which tends to be lower in summer. Whilernhelium consumption continues to grow, new production capacities cannot be establishedrnaccording to demand because it depends on the availability of raw gas at reasonably highrnconcentration.rnThis paper presents actual aspects on supply of helium gas and economical considerationsrnon recycling of helium gas, specifically on the situation in Europe.
