STIFF PP: THE NEW GENERATION POLYPROPYLENE BLOCK COPOLYMER FOR NON-PRESSURE PIPE APPLICATIONS

The new generation PP-B (Stiff PP), first introduced in 1998 for underground drainage and sewerage, is primarily based on a combination of a unique stiffness/impact property balance, low specific weight, good long-term properties and excellent chemical resistance. This paper gives the status of what has been achieved since the introduction of Stiff PP in the field of underground drainage and sewerage, including a material property update, the present market situation, application examples and future opportunities. Key examples are also included of other non-pressure application areas which, based on Stiff PP material properties, bring added value to all the members of the value chain.
