By changing the ratio of Al: Sr , we get a new type phosphor SrAl_3O_5(OH) : Eu2~+, Dy~(3+) emitting blue light with the afterglow characteristics of over 10 hours. The emitting peak is at 484nm, which is corresponding to the spectral transition 4f5d of Eu~(2+). The influence of different temperatures and different flux on the luminescent properties of SrAl_3O_5(OH): Eu2~+,Dy~(3+) was studied, the results indicate that increasing the sintering temperature helps crystal to grow, and that the luminescent properties of SrAl_3O_5(OH):Eu2~+,Dy~(3+) is improved by higher temperature or the flux especially H_3BO_3, which increases the initial brightness and prolongs the afterglow time comparing with the SrAl_3O_5(OH):Eu2~+, Dy~(2+) that without additives.
